Kristina Sandulova is a Bulgarian-Dutch pianist. She was born in Sofia and received her first piano lessons at the age of 5 from her mother, the renowned composer Julia Tsenova. After finishing the music school with distinction, she continued her studies at the Conservatory of Sofia uith Prof. Stella Dimitrova-Maistrova. In 2001 she received a scholarship from the Labberte-Foundation in order to continue her study in the Netherlands, where she studied with Paul Komen, Geoffrey Madge and Klára Würtz.

 

Kristina has obtained several prizes and distinctions at international competitions, among others the Liszt-Bartok-competition 1995 and the Music and Earth Competition 1996 and 1997 in Sofia, Bulgaria. She is a regular guest at festivals of modern music, where she has performed numerous national and international premiers. As a soloist she performed with the Academy Symphony Orchestra and the Tempi Concertanti Orchestra in Sofia, Bulgaria, and with the Minsk Chamber Orchestra in Norway.

 

Kristina has given lecture-recitals about the contemporary music of her mother, Julia Tsenova, in different countries (among others Japan, Germany, Iceland), and is the organizer of the concert series "Julia Tsenova Music & Arts Tribute", dedicated to the performance of music and other art forms (theater, modern dance etc.) In Vienna, Kristina was a teacher at the musicschool "Spielstatt". Since February 2015 Kristina lives in Hamburg, Germany.

 

She was invited as a Jury member at the following international competitions:

  • Tschaikowsky Instrumental und Gesangwettbewerb für Kinder und Jugendliche", Hamburg , 2017.

  • Feurich" International Competition, Vienna, 2017

  • International competition "Chestnut Piano", Kiev, 2019


Kristina is the founder and main organizer of the concert series "Stage4Kids" in the Laeiszhalle Hamburg, where young talented children (aged 4-12) perform. The festival has numerous collaboration agreements, e.g., with: Klassiek op het Amstelveld, Amsterdam; Feurich International competition; Children's Philharmonic, Moscow; Elena Cobb Star Prize, London.


Since 2017, Kristina is based in Amsterdam, where she gives private lessons, concerts and is involved in organizing music events.
